Diagnosis & Comprehensive Treatment Planning
Diagnosis refers to the recognition of any disease or condition by its outward signs and symptoms. Once the diagnosis has been established, either on the general condition of your mouth or on an individual tooth, a specific treatment plan will be tailored to meet and exceed your expectations. This will be accomplished by analyzing on an individual basis all aspects that play a role on the development of this treatment plan according to your needs including parameters of health, esthetic considerations, support for behavior modification, management of fear towards dental procedures and financial considerations.
Periodontal Assessment
At the time of your initial consultation and examination appointment, we will performa periodontal probing and will record the measurements obtained, this refers to themeasurement of space between your teeth and your gums. Since periodontal disease will cause destruction of the tissues like the gum and the bone that supportsyour teeth, this space in between your teeth and gum often referred to as “pockets” will be deeper as the severity of the disease gets worse, providing a larger spacefor bacteria to live. These deep pockets collect even more bacteria, resulting infurther bone and tissue loss. Eventually, if too much bone is lost, the teeth will needto be extracted.
